Going out camping with your kids can be a fun idea as long as you have everything planned and well set before you head out into the wilderness to rough it out with your kids for a few days. One of the things you need to plan, aside from the food, the necessary camping equipment and the emergency supplies for certain camp-related accidents and such, is what you and your kids will do for recreation once you are at your camping spot. To plan the things your kids might want to do or might enjoy doing while camping, you will first need to consider where you are going and what the surroundings offer in terms of things to do.
Most camp sites have bodies of water that you and your family can use for swimming, fishing and other water sports. Just try to make sure that your kids and other members of the family stay near the shore to avoid untoward accidents in unfamiliar water and to have someone spot a member of the family at all times when they are near water.
Another thing that most campsites have is a clearing or an area where you and other members of your family can play group sports like volleyball, touch football and similar sports and games. You can also plan to have a campfire storytelling and marshmallow roasting event for your kids and yourself where the best storyteller wins a prize. All of these activities you will need to plan along with alternative activities that your kids will like.
