Oceanside-California-Sun-Surf-and San Diego

Offering sandy beaches, entertaining amusements, and a relaxing atmosphere that is in sharp contrast to nearby San Diego, Oceanside is the perfect vacation destination for anyone who wants it all away from the hustle and bustle of the city. While still close enough to enjoy everything that San Diego has to offer, this quaint California community is brimming with activities to keep you coming back year after year.

Oceanside, as it name suggests, is a waterfront haven where you can enjoy recreational activities beyond belief along three-and-a-half miles of white sandy beaches. Swimming, surfing, body boarding, sunbathing, sand volleyball, and rollerblading are just a few of the outdoor pursuits waiting for you along this clean, soft stretch of sand. With so much to see and do, the most difficult part of your day may be deciding on which of its lovely beaches you should lay down your towel.

The largest of Oceanside's Pacific wonders, Harbor Beach is the perfect starting point for any inshore or offshore adventure. Beach bums will appreciate all of the space at their disposal, while those who want to explore outwards can head over to the nearby Oceanside Harbor and book a whale watching or deep-sea fishing excursion. For those who are relaxing near the Oceanside Pier, Pier View North offers a quiet and calm beach atmosphere compared to Pier View South, which is the most popular beach in Oceanside with its surfing, body surfing, and body boarding contests and proximity to the events of the Oceanside Pier Amphitheater.

Beyond the beaches, Oceanside is teeming with sights and attractions that will have you wondering how you never visited this California beauty before. At the Oceanside Harbor, fine dining and charming shops and boutiques are the perfect respite from the sandy shore, while the Oceanside Pier is the perfect resting spot for a glorious sunset with only the Pacific Ocean in sight. Active pursuits are also available away from the water on the several stunning golf courses that dot the area, including the Emerald Isle Golf Course, Oceanside Golf Course, and the Center City Golf Course.

As the most historically significant and picturesque attraction in the area, a stop by the Mission San Luis Rey de Francia should be near the top of every itinerary. The mission, founded in 1798, features an impressive combination of Spanish, Mexican, and Moorish influences that is architecturally stunning in person. Other facets of history can be found around Oceanside at the Buena Vista Audubon Society Nature Center, where natural history blossoms among the native flora and fauna, and at the California Surf Museum, which seeks to preserve artifacts and memorabilia related to this popular ocean sport.

While the local attractions provide insight into the influences and priorities of this community, the nearby attractions of San Diego offer entertainment and excitement that is simply beyond compare. Only a short, forty-minute drive away, the city features world-famous amusements such as the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park along with new favorites like Legoland, which has rides, shows, and attractions that appeal to visitors of all ages. If you have never been or it has been years since your last visit, be sure to check out SeaWorld for its exhilarating marine shows, complete with Shamu, and various zoological displays.

With something to satisfy the tastes of every visitor, your Oceanside getaway will be filled with smiles and cheers as you roam the banks of this coastal retreat. While you know that your time outdoors will be filled with endless activities and attractions, don't forget about occupying your time indoors with a vacation home rental. Oceanside vacation rentals can keep the laughter going with their game rooms, media rooms, and plenty of space for a family game night. Put cramped and unwelcoming hotel rooms in the past and enjoy the convenience, space, and amenities that an Oceanside rental has to offer for your dream vacation in this seaside paradise.

Why You Should Save Money on Entertainment

When was the last time you dreamed of that big screen TV? That fast car or truck? Dreaming is good and I think we should all dream and fantasize. Sadly though in this day and age this just isn't the norm anymore, although this might be the norm for rich people but not for the average Joe. So how do you save money and live better on entertainment? Saving money is hard alone but what if you just want to have some fun? Remember that entertainment does not have to cost a lot of money. A stroll down the park on some bicycles with your spouse or friend would bring tremendous excitement and adventure. Another great way is to go out on a trip with some friends and play popular sports such as volleyball, football, soccer, this can be quite the adventure if you have lots of people. Strangely people become entertained when they sell things. Set up a garage sale for the weekend and invite your friends to join you. A garage sale is a great way to earn money. If you look at history, say 100 years ago how do you think people entertained other people?

The answer might surprise you but it was through communication and being interested in other peoples interests. Can you imagine life without TV's, internet, computers, iPods, or even cell phones. How did these people survive without all of this technology? It was genuine interest and honest communication that held people together and brotherly and sisterly love that didn't fade away even when poverty struck. It is sad that today in this world people just cant seem to enjoy life without expensive and luxurious items. Unless you are super wealthy why would you need to spend money on entertainment when you have your friends and family that are priceless compared to all other things.

Tropical Cruise Vacations

Tropical cruise vacations offer some of the easiest ways to experience beautiful sand and sun while having to worry about relatively little, logistics-wise. Cruises are known for being all-inclusive, all that may be a bit of a misnomer, they certainly provide for almost any need you could want. Tropical cruise vacations also offer unparalleled flexibility, there are cruises for singles, couples, honeymooners, friends, and families with kids. There is almost certainly a cruise that will fit your needs.

The easiest way to think of a cruise is a floating resort, which most boats nowadays are. You will have all the amenities you would expect on an island, yet a cruise will move to different locations and keep your tropical vacation varied. Cruises have some of the best customer satisfaction rates in the travel industry, and it is easy to see why once you do a little research. A typical day on a Carnival cruise includes the following activities in no particular order: Spa & gym access, casino, shuffleboard, volleyball, ping pong tournament, childrens' activities, horse racing, ice carving demonstration, dance class, cooking lessons, bingo, dance clubs, plays & theater, and endless dining options. Where else can you find such fantastic diversity in activities that still allows you to experience different tropical islands as you go along? And the above is just on-ship, that does not include the shore excursions that occur off the boat every day.

For tropical vacation cruises in the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii, or the Bahamas, the best time is any time. These cruises run year round and enjoy fantastic weather. Only Bermuda has a high season, which runs from May to October. There are plenty of other cruise options and packages, but these are the best of the best for a tropical location.

If you are worried about costs, remember that cruises are a fantastic value! The up-front pricing includes meals, your stateroom, on-board activities and entertainment, and transportation from port to port. There are no hidden fees, so your vacation is set before you ever depart. This kind of transparency simply is not possible in a conventional vacation on land. Most cruises last around a week a half, but there are options that are as short as 3 days to as long as 3 months. Ships are also similarly personalized, there are the mega-boats that are almost floating cities, yachts that are small and intimate, and boats in between to suit any need. Booking is as easy as going online or talking a certified cruise travel agency, and they will be happy to help you create your dream trip.

Cruises offer the best value and best personalization in the travel industry. Going on a tropical vacation could not be easier when utilizing a cruise line. And because of the financial crisis cruises are offering unprecedented deals for vacation packages, removing fees and slashing prices to fill their ships. There is no better time than now to take a cruise vacation in a tropical locale.

The Tennis Volley For Beginners

The what? It is just like it sounds. You are "volleying" the ball out of the air, just like in volleyball. But the tennis volley is not a day at the beach (pun definitely intended).

Think Like a Boxer

Wait a minute. Aren't we talking about tennis? Yes, but the tennis volley is an animal all its own and, in this case, we need to take a slightly different approach. When you think of boxers what is the first thing that come to mind? Good stance, elbows in close to the body (you don't want to get hit), short jabs. You can use all these things in a good volley.

Footwork, Footwork, Footwork

Getting your feet set and in a ready position is the first thing to remember when preparing for the volley. Set a good base with your feet and you are half way home. A good split step will get you in position to make a quality shot.

Elbows In Tight

OK, you have your feet set and you are ready to make the shot. The next step is to make sure your arms and elbows are in tight. Keeping your arms and elbow in will help you control the ball more effectively and, most of all, keep the ball in the court.

Jab, Jab, Jab

One of the biggest mistakes that newer (and older) players make when hitting a volley is swinging too hard and too fast. We have all felt the need to rip the cover off the ball as it comes right at us. DO NOT DO THIS. The most effective way to hit a volley is a short jab, keeping the arm bent and in tight. Oh yeah, don't forget to step TOWARD the ball with the split step.

Stay Calm, It's Just a Volley

You're at the net, your feet are set, your arms are in tight, and you're ready to jab. But here comes your opponent's ball screaming at you at 100 miles an hour. Now what do you do? STAY CALM. You are ready, just react. Step toward the oncoming missile and jab that little yellow devil across into the open court. Your opponent has already done all the hard work by hitting the ball as hard as he can, just follow your steps and jab, jab, jab.

Practice, Practice, Practice

Like everything you will do in tennis, the volley will get easier the more you practice. Have your coach or playing partner hit balls at your forehand and backhand while you are at the net. The more you practice, the slower the 100 mile an hour ball will seem and YOU will win the point.

Jones Beach - Wantagh, NY - Fun in the Sun

Looking for sun, sand and saltwater? It may surprise you to hear that you can find all this right here in New York. Jones Beach contains all the simple pleasures of any other beach and while it may not be the perfect place for a luxury vacation, it is a great place for people of all ages to go for the day.

General Information

The great thing about Jones Beach is its location. It is 1-1.5 hours away from the city (depending on which lot you choose) and it is very easy to get to. The beach is open year round but swimming season usually starts around Memorial Day and parking costs $8. The water is relatively calm, but it also pretty cold. A quick dip in the water is perfect to cool you off after laying in the hot sand and sun, though. Another cool feature is that the ocean beach runs for 6.5 miles and there is a .5 mile long bay beach so there are many lots to choose from. Each lot has its own entrance, parking lot, food establishments, bathrooms and leisure activities.

Activities

Attractions include swimming, mini golf, beach volleyball courts, fishing, pools, playgrounds and much more. The activities available depend on which lot you choose. The lots with more attractions are more crowded (although it is still easy to find a space to lay out) and the lots with less are the more relaxing ones.

Event

Aside from the usual beach activities, Jones Beach is the site for many exciting events. Well-known artists are known to have concerts here and there is a stage where other performances take place. During our recent visit, we found ourselves in the middle of the Jones Beach Air Show. There were all kinds of military aircrafts doing flips and making formations in the air. Jones Beach is never a boring place as there are many activities to choose from.

Florida Coasts for Beach Lovers

When Dr. Beach chooses it for America's Best Beaches, you know the beach is something special.

Since 1991, Dr. Beach, aka Dr. Stephen Leatherman, has released an annual list of America's Best Beaches, just in time for the summer beach season. Dr. Beach rates beaches on 50 criteria, and only the absolute best make his lists. This year, three Florida beaches have the honor of receiving the best beach "Oscar" from Dr. Beach.

Caladesi Island State Park, near Dunedin/Clearwater, FL, is one of the few completely natural islands along Florida's Gulf Coast. With sparkling white sand shores, the Caladesi Island State Park is accessible only by private boat or by ferry from Honeymoon Island State Park. Beach lovers can enjoy swimming, sunbathing, and beachcombing. Saltwater anglers can fish from their boats or throw a line into the surf. Nature enthusiasts watch wildlife while hiking the three-mile nature trail through the island's interior or paddling a kayak trail through the mangroves and bay. The park has a marina with electric and water hookups for boaters. Caladesi Island State Park is located one mile west of Dunedin, FL (near Clearwater) off the Gulf Coast of Florida.

Lighthouse Point Park near Daytona Beach, FL, is located on 52 acres of pristine land. The park is on the north side of Ponce DeLeon inlet in the town of Ponce Inlet, just south of Daytona Beach. Lighthouse Point Park offers swimming, picknicking, fishing, nature trails, and an observation deck and tower. A variety of wildlife call the Lighthouse Point Park home, including possums, armadillos, shore birds, and birds of prey.

Siesta Beach, near Sarasota, FL, has the "whitest and finest sand in the world," according to the judges of the Great International White Sand Beach Challenge, held in 1987. Unlike most beaches, which are primarily made up of coral, the sand at Siesta Beach is 99% quartz, so even on the hottest of Florida days, the reflective sand feels cool to the feet. Siesta Beach also offers picnic tables, tennis courts, volleyball on the beach, a soccer field, and a fitness trail.

If a beach vacation to one of these top Florida beaches is on your calendar, CRSHotels.com has the perfect hotel for you. On the west coast of Florida, choose the Beachcomber Beach Resort & Hotel St. Pete Beach, the Sailport Resort Waterfront Suites on Tampa Bay, or the Grand Plaza Beachfront Resort Hotel & Conference Center St. Pete Beach. Stay at the Tahitian Resort Tarpon Springs Florida, the Belleview Biltmore Resort, Golf Club, Spa & Beach Club in Clearwater, or the Quality Hotel on the Beach Clearwater. A bit further south on the west coast, enjoy the Gullwing Beach Resort Ft. Myers Beach, or the DiamondHead Beach Resort Ft. Myers Beach. Stay at the Pointe Estero Beach Resort Ft. Myers Beach, or the Santa Maria Harbour Resort Ft. Myers Beach.

On the east coast of Florida, choose the Hawaiian Inn Oceanfront Resort Daytona Beach, the Oceanside Inn Daytona Beach, or the Wyndham Ocean Walk Daytona. Stay at the Sheraton PGA Resort Port St. Lucie or Vistana's Beach Club on Hutchinson Island near Jensen Beach.

adidas Elite Medium Duffle Review

My daughter uses this bag for all her karate gear. So it gets handled very roughly. The gear is crammed into it and the bag is tossed whereever she decides to leave it. It has held up well. I agree with everyone else about the bag size. The total size they list is based on the outside pockets as well and you have to stuff it full to even get close to their listed dimensions. Overall it is a good looking bag that is constructed well and fits my daughters needs for stuffing several items in the center but hold her smaller items in the smaller pockets.

How to Have the Best Summer Backyard Fun

The summer is a great time to enjoy your backyard. If you've been cooped up all winter long it's especially important for you to get out there and play. Having summer backyard fun will decrease your stress levels and bring you closer to your family than ever before.

It's most important that you just get outside. Forget about planning things for a minute and get out there and enjoy the fresh air. We all need to clear our heads every now and then and sitting outside or taking a walk is a great way to do that.

There does come a point where you'll want to do more. After all, it takes a lot more than just sitting outside to entertain the family these days! If you take the time to plan some summer activities you'll all have a great time.

First, survey your backyard. Is it attractive? You might not think the way your backyard looks should have any bearing on how much fun you can have. But it does matter, because if your backyard is dingy and boring no one will want to spend time out there.

It's definitely a good idea to clear the clutter. Get rid of things you're not using anymore or are broken. Do a little bit of landscaping to get everything looking its best.

After you're finished fixing up your yard a little bit you should start to think about the things your family would enjoy doing. One popular choice is having cookouts.

It's so much fun to cook on the grill and have everyone eat on a picnic table outside. If that sounds like something your family would enjoy you might consider getting the equipment to do so. It can also be a lot of fun to have enough seating space for a large group of people so you can have parties.

Eating isn't the only way to have fun outside. Sports are something many people enjoy as well. You might want to get something like a basketball hoop, volleyball net, or soccer goals. This will keep everyone entertained and physically fit.

Another great way to enjoy your backyard is to plant a garden. You can have a flower garden, a vegetable garden, or both. It's a nice feeling to be able to go outside and pick fresh veggies to put on the table. You can plan your garden to be a family activity where everyone lends a hand.

There is no limit to the summer backyard fun you can have. It's all about using the space you have to create the opportunity to do the things you like to do. Whether it be grilling outside, playing games, or planting flowers you're sure to have a good time this summer.

The Dream of High School Student Athletes

The dream of many high school student athletes is to be the best high school athlete that he or she can be. You're working really hard. You're doing all the things you can as a player. You have achieved a certain level of success. Your dream is to just be the best.

Now all of a sudden you have achieved that goal. You have become the best that you can possibly be. You have honed your skills and now you feel that you could be a college player.

The game has become fun to you and you want to be recruited. You want to play college ball. You want to get that college education. You want to get that scholarship.

Your dream is to play at the next level which is college. You have, over the years worked on your game. During the summers, you played in the summer leagues, you went to camps, and you went to tournaments. You've done all those things because that's what the real good players must do.

Like most athletes in high school, who will at some point develop a certain level of success and when that happens, you want to go to the next level. It's only natural; that's what this is all about. There are many high school athletes who never achieve that level of success and they will never be college material, but for the millions of others out there, they want an opportunity to play in college and they deserve that.

College recruiting is very confusing and it's a very complex situation. You need to have the right tools, the right materials, the right education, the proper understanding and the right guidance to achieve just a certain level of success when it comes to being recruited.

What is going to make you shine above another student athlete or what's going to make you standout over another athlete who may have similar playing abilities, similar skills and maybe even similar academic achievements?

Sometimes, it's being in a situation where you're going to get the proper exposure to hundreds of college programs, where there's going to be a proper amount of follow-up work done. The more that a college program hears about you over the course of a year, 2 years or perhaps your entire high school career, will be a major plus for you.

Also remember that it could be the little things that set you apart from some of the other athletes. Maybe you're an inch taller, maybe you're in better shape, maybe your grade point average is a tenth of a point higher than the next persons, maybe you scored well on the SAT or ACT tests, maybe you've written letters to coaches, maybe you've gotten your DVD to coaches, and maybe you've developed a great rapport with a college coach.

I believe the dream for many high school athletes is just to play in college. That dream can become a reality if you do a few simple and basic things.

Exposure is number 1. Number 2 is follow-up work. Getting your name out there and being able to be seen by college programs over the course of a year to 2 years is critical in your development.

To achieve your dream, you need to do all the right things because college programs are not going to give everyone a college scholarship. Most student athletes are not scholarship worthy. It really comes down to talent and that's how you're going to get your scholarship. I would also focus on skill level; doing everything you can to become bigger, faster, stronger, and better. Work on your skill level.

Think about being a great student athlete and think about being an even better student athlete. If you can do that you will achieve your dream of being in college.

Presenting: Calgary - Canada's Heart of the New West

During our upcoming ski trip in the Alberta Rockies this March, we'll be visiting Calgary for the first time. As a matter of fact, it will be our first time in the Canadian Rockies ever. We'll have a brief one-day layover in Calgary before we move on to skiing in Banff and Lake Louise and will try to get a sneak peak at Alberta's capital.

To prepare us for our compact discovery of Calgary, I have talked to Paul Newmarch from Tourism Calgary to get a lay of the land so to speak, to give us an overview so we'll be able to explore Canada's New West.

1. Please provide us with some general information about Calgary. How large is the city, where is it located, what is the weather like?

According to the civic census, Calgary's population was 956,078 in April 2005. Calgary is located in the province of Alberta, 145 Km east of Banff, and 250 km from the US border. Calgary's average summer temperature is around 20 degrees Celsius, and in the winter, average temperature is -8 Celsius. That said, there is a local saying in Calgary that if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes.

2. How can one get to Calgary and what is the best way of getting around in Calgary?

Calgary is accessible along the TransCanada highway, or by direct air from a number of cities, including the following:
Edmonton, Halifax, Hamilton, Montreal, Ottawa, Regina, St. John's, Thunder Bay, Toronto, Vancouver, Victoria, Whitehorse, Winnipeg, Yellownknife.

The following US cities have direct connections to Calgary:
Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Ft. Lauderdale, Honolulu, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Maui, Minneapolis, New York (JFK), Orlando, Palm Springs, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, and Seattle.

You will find direct flights to Calgary from the following European cities:
Frankfurt, London and Manchester.

The best way to get around would be to use the Calgary Transit System. Train service is free in the downtown core, and a one way adult fare is $2.25. Otherwise, taxi cabs are available to and from all areas of the city.

3. Please tell us a bit about Calgary's history.

Calgary's history as a city began in 1875 when a detachment of North West Mounted Police (NWMP) arrived. The NWMP established Fort Calgary at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow Rivers in an area that, at that time, had few permanent inhabitants. Except for local native peoples who used the area for hunting, the only full-time occupants were Sam Livingston, a homesteader, and his family.

Calgary was named by NWMP Colonel James Macleod after Calgary Bay on the Isle of Mull, Scotland. (Although there has been much discussion on the topic, it is believed Calgary is derived from the Gaelic Cala-ghearridh meaning "bay farm.")

On Nov. 7, 1884, Calgary was officially incorporated as a town and less than a decade later, on Jan. 1, 1894, the town became a city. Harness-maker George Murdoch was the first mayor of Calgary. The CPR was delivering a continuous supply of settlers to Calgary by 1885. These new immigrants had an impact on the established ranching life surrounding Calgary as they moved on to the range formerly inhabited by large herds of cattle. Although the ranching industry changed significantly after its arrival, the presence of the CPR led directly to the importance of the processing and exporting of meat to Calgary's economy.

4. Please tell us about some of the major attractions, museums and galleries in the Calgary area.

Pitch a Tent Party Kids Love

Kids all love camping, so if you intend to plan a party for your kid, pitching a tent party is a very good idea. There are different types of tent parties you could plan.

Most tent parties are planned outdoors, like in your backyard or on a campground. Set up a campfire (if it is legal) and sit around telling stories or chatting or playing a musical instrument and singing. Get ready some food like hotdogs and marshmallows to be roasted.

Other times, mostly because the weather does not permit outdoor camping, tent parties take place indoor, such as in the bedroom, living room or other room in the house. Set up a tent in the room and pretend they are camping for the night. Besides building a fire, the children can participate in some of the activities mentioned above, like telling stories, playing a musical and singing. The other limitation will be that cooking the hotdogs and marshmallow will have to be done in the microwave instead. Besides hot dogs, other food served can include mini-pies, grilled cheese sandwiches, min-pizzas and hamburgers.
The upside of indoor parties is that it can be held in all weather and children can stay warm.

Other activities outdoors include a dance contest, hide-and-seek, craft activities, hiking (either around the block or on an outdoor trail on a campground), swimming (if you have a pool or elsewhere) and treasure and scavenger hunts.

Activities that can take place indoors are playing video games, watching movies or having a dance contest too.

To help your indoor camp looks like an outdoor one, decorate your home with either real or fake tree leaves, rocks and a fake fire pit. Try to make it look as authentic as possible.

Depending on whether the party is indoors or outdoors, you will also need sleeping bags, bug spray, blankets, pillows, toy binoculars, bouncing balls a football, basketball or volleyball, musical instruments, CD player or other audio device, paper cups, plates and other plastic utensils and toiletries (for overnight trips).

If you intend to take the kids to a special camping resort, then more long term planning is required and you may decide to take a smaller group. Another good idea will be to consult some parents whose children you intend to invite. They may be willing to help you to chaperone or plan the event with you. Taking care of a bunch of kids is no small feat but can be a very rewarding one.

Can Pillow Fighting Really Be a Sport? You Bet!

The "Pillow Fight League" is a semi-professional sport based in Toronto, Canada. This sport involves a somewhat "public" fight with pillows, of course. The game resembles wrestling and boxing in many ways. The first game to be formally held took place in Canada, but, later, the same events were also held in New York City and other regions of Quebec. However, the primary home of the games remains in Canada.

Pillow fighting has a codified set of rules but this hasn't prevented several fighters playing and participating in the sport to still get injuries -- mostly cuts and bruises. Sometimes, teeth indeed have been lost, muscles torn, and lips split. To keep participants and audience alive and enthusiastic, several live performances have been introduced into the event. Different bands perform and get the attention of viewers, which adds more thrill to the overall event. Nothing like a live audience to make a whole event more amazing.

Pillow fighting include women fighting, as well as men fighting. A woman's fight has a five minute time limit and the contestants can win the sport with "pin fall", or "referee stoppage", or even surrender. Moreover, if the fight ends with no winner, a winner is simply declared by a committee. Clothes lines, punching, submission holds, leg drops and several other movements are allowed.

However, the pillow must be in hand while making any extra movement. Furthermore, the decision of judges is based upon the warnings that are given by the referee to the contestant while holding and snatching opponent's pillow. No biting, hair pulling and scratching is allowed. The competitors are not allowed to use any foul language and behavior. Contestants are also not allowed to place any hard object in the pillow.

NCAA Gear to Show School Spirit

At its heart, school spirit is a way to honor your institution and identify with your class mates and alumni. Participation in events which are school spirit based is a group bonding experience. There are many ways to become a part of showing your support for your school. One of the most common methods is to attend team events. NCAA stands for the National Collegiate Athletic Association and it is a consortium of the nation's colleges and universities govern their athletics programs. Joining the NCAA is a great way to not only help the organization thrive; you are by extension supporting student athletes and the programs in which they participate.

You can show your school spirit each day by sporting the team colors with clothing and accessories that are emblazoned with the insignia. Branded items are readily available on the web for easy shipment to your door. A good example is the offerings for Illini Fans. Available is the University of Illinois Backpack. The backpack is blue with the easily identifiable orange I with Illinois printed in white. This backpack is lightweight and a generous 18" x 12" x 10" in size, fully capable of carrying a number of books or gear on a short hike. It is also a great visual for promoting U of Illinois. Illini fans can also choose the scrub top. This is a 100% cotton garment that is great for showing your support.

Every square inch of the top is covered with the U of I logo. Georgia Tech fans also have much to choose from. The apparel and accessory choices are endless. There is a great set of Georgia Tech boxers that are perfect for wearing to the health club or around town. These 100% cotton boxers are comfortable and very appealing. And people will know that you are a Georgia Tech fan whether you are coming or going as every bit of the shorts sport the very distinctive Georgia Tech logo. The Florida State Seminoles logo is distinctive and dramatic. Fans of the Seminoles have some striking merchandise to select from. One of the coolest items is the earmuff pack. It is a heavy cotton blend with a waterproof skin that will keep your ears dry and warm when inclement weather hits. Wearing it readily identifies your allegiance to the Florida State Seminoles.

NCAA sportswear is colorful, fun to wear and it not only reflects your school spirit, and it supports student athletes. A multitude of items can be found online for easy shipment to your door. NCAA sportswear is also excellent for gift giving and makes for a great solution when you don't know what to get that special someone.

adidas Elite Medium Duffle Review

My daughter uses this bag for all her karate gear. So it gets handled very roughly. The gear is crammed into it and the bag is tossed whereever she decides to leave it. It has held up well. I agree with everyone else about the bag size. The total size they list is based on the outside pockets as well and you have to stuff it full to even get close to their listed dimensions. Overall it is a good looking bag that is constructed well and fits my daughters needs for stuffing several items in the center but hold her smaller items in the smaller pockets.

Celebrate Your Graduate! Fun, Easy Graduation Party Ideas

Graduation parties let you reward the years of hard work your graduate to be has completed and wish them well in the years to come. Now's the time to start planning and gathering some great ideas for your graduation party! You may be planning something small and simple, or large and lavish; either way there's lots of great ideas out there to make it a very memorable day!

After you have a basic budget down, its good to figure a general graduation party theme. What types of hobbies does the graduate have? If they participated in sports throughout high school, it might be a good idea to have some marks of achievement they may have acquired (varsity letters, jackets, awards, certificates, pictures, etc.) Another cool option we've seen is to have life sized cutouts of your graduate. They certainly make a statement!

Next you'll need to find some activities that any age group can enjoy. Its always a good idea to stick with the tried and true classic yard games such as badminton, volleyball, bean bag toss, horse shoes, etc. We went to a graduation party last year that had something really cool - photograph stand ins! They're very similar to those images you see in amusement parks that allow someone to stand behind and put their face on someone elses body for a funny picture! Stand ins are a simple graduation party activity that are sure to delight your guests. You can even have a disposable camera handy so guests can take pictures and get copies of them later as a keepsake.

Being Sporty - Fitness Measurement, Supplements and Apparel

Today, most people take the greatest care in their health. No matter if you are involved in sport or not, physical fitness is priority. Furthermore, with deadly disease becoming threat to life more than ever before many have choose good health and fitness above everything else.

What actually is being fit? It is the ability of the body to endure pain or not feel pain or discomfort whenever it is engaged in physical activities. There is actually five main areas in which fitness can be measured. They are :

- Performing physical activities that requires aerobic endurance such as running, kayaking and aerobics workout is one kind of measurement and this will show how the heart reacts to it as well as supplying oxygen to the body.

- Another form of fitness test is weight lifting to test muscular ability. The idea is to lift a specific weight for an amount of time. This is then repeated so that it becomes less challenging. More weight or repetitions of lifting is then added to the test until target has been achieved.

- Fitness is also assessed by muscle strength. Observe the heaviest weight that can be carried by specific body parts such as arms or leg.

- The flexibility of your limbs and elasticity of your muscles. The measurement of how supple you are generally is another measurement of your physical fitness. Along with the ability to hoist yourself up on your arms, your fitness is also judged by how easily you move from one position to another.

- The total body mass index as in the proportion of fat in your body. This is measure according to formula and is not reflected in how your look or how much you weigh. Factors that are taken into account are your height, weight and age and within certain proportions, may or may not be acceptable.

What can be said about a person who looks muscular. Well, the most common perception would be that he or she is very fit. Don't be too quick to judge, because a person might be bulky with mass but he or she could have a low fitness level. Someone is only regarded as fit after passing all the five measurement of fitness as mentioned earlier.

Athletes would always be looking for ways to improve his or her physical fitness. Therefore, one common way for them to do this is by means of sports supplements.

For boosting the immune system, multivitamins are the sports supplements that can help you achieve this. You will find that you will less likely be ill and even if you do, you'll bounce back in no time. There are also supplements that helps build muscles and this will concurrently increase your strength and stamina.

You can find nature based sports supplements that come from herbs, minerals and plants. There are also synthetics types. Nature types are more safer but since they are very limited, combinations of both natural and synthetic supplement are created.

Exercise is the one thing that is constant when one speaks of physical fitness and achieving physical perfection. And whether or not it is a strenuous run on the treadmill or a yoga class, it is important to have the proper sports apparel. As with anything in the sports industry, however, attire that was created solely to provide comfort and support during exercise has become a fashion statement.

Because the main purpose of wearing sports apparel is to provide support, it is essential that you have the right attire for the activity you will be doing. All these includes track pants or suit, leggings, tank tops, shorts, running shoes or trainers, and a good sports bra for women. These apparels are made to provide the support and maintain a certain temperament of the body. For instance, a sports bra will provide the support for breasts unlike the bra worn daily and track pants or suits materials allows the body to maintain the heat during work out so that it does not cool off too quickly. So is a good pair of running shoes that will provide ample support for calves and ankle.

It is absolutely important that you wear the right attire to exercise or perform any sports activities. If you neglect this, you might just end up getting yourself injured as well as become very uncomfortable. The materials used to make sports attire are those that lets the skin breathe and perspire easily.

Travel Fit!

Summertime is here! Time for that much needed vacation and a break from the daily grind! I've got some tips to help you keep on track with your fit and healthy lifestyle while enjoying your vacation at the same time. Remember just because you are on vacation doesn't mean it's a no exercise, eating and drinking free for all! It is important to continue to make health conscious decisions even if you are basking in the sunshine on a remote island. Keep these quick tips in mind and you'll be able to stick with your fitness plan AND enjoy your relaxation time.

-Consider your exercise alternatives when booking your vacation accommodations. Many hotels provide some form of fitness center, whether it is just a room with a treadmill or a full blown cardio and weight area, you will more than likely have an onsite option for maintaining your exercise program. If this isn't the case there may be a nearby gym that gives discounts for hotel guests. Check the hotel website to see what your alternatives may be.

-Check with your home gym to see if they have an affiliate program. Through these programs you can find other fitness centers nationwide where you can work out for free or at a discount just for being a member of your gym!

-Staying in a more remote location? Check out the area for hiking trails, beaches to walk on, nearby parks etc.

-Bring your gear. Be sure to travel prepared, always bring your sneakers and some workout clothes with you so that you are prepared for some activity in your day!

-Create a "Fit Kit" to carry with you when you travel. Be sure to pack your resistance band and a jump rope. Both of these items are lightweight and easy to pack and can enhance the diversity of your workout options while on vacation!

-Don't let your vacation be a free for all! Avoid the temptation of thinking, I'm on vacation, I don't have to exercise or eat healthy. You are just setting yourself up for frustration when you return home! Your goal is to lead a fit and healthy lifestyle. That means everyday of your life, not just when you're home! You still need to take care of yourself even if you are taking a break from your normal everyday routine.

-Do relax and enjoy your time, splurge here and there, but keep your fit and healthy lifestyle plan in your mind and stay tuned to what your body needs and wants. Remember to listen to your body, eat when you're hungry, and when you're full... Stop!

-Use your vacation as a time to try something new. If you usually work out indoors, take it outside. Take a walk through a local park, or kick it up a notch and go for a hike. Rent a bike and explore the area either by street or find some local biking trails. Take to the water, if you're staying at the beach get out there for a swim, or take advantage of your hotels pool or a local community pool. Rent a Kayak or canoe for the day and get a great upper body workout! Try to walk as much as possible instead of driving from location to location.

-Staying at the beach? Get out for a jog or walk in the morning and enjoy the serenity. The beach is also a great place to put yourself through a little circuit training workout so be sure to pack up your resistance band! Or just get out there and play, the beach is a great place for throwing the Frisbee, hopping in on a beach volleyball game, or getting out there and building a sandcastle!

-When traveling to your location remember to pack healthy snacks with you so that you can eat healthy during your trip. Granola bars, fruit, bags of veggies, these are some ideas of quick snacks that will travel well, and if you have your own snacks you can avoid the high calories and price of airport food or fast food joints.

-Remember you don't have to eat everything that is handed to you. When traveling by plane it is easy to just eat whatever snacks the flight attendant is passing out. Remember that it is o.k. to say no, again listen to your body.... If you're not hungry... don't eat!

-Try not to eat just because you're bored while traveling, this can happen often on planes and on long car rides.

-Eating out can be tricky, being prepared ahead of time and knowing the menu of your restaurant of choice can help you avoid overindulging. Enter the restaurant with a plan, check the menu ahead of time, find a couple of options for healthy meal choices that you would like to try. Skip the bread if it is served before the meal, even request that none be brought to your table so it doesn't sit there and stare you in the face! Split your meal with someone, or have the server pack up half of the meal immediately so you aren't tempted to eat the whole thing.

-Order an appetizer as your meal, the portion size will be smaller. Skip dessert if possible, however, if you've got to have some share it or eat only half. Don't give in to having dessert at every meal! Substitute the starch that comes with your meal for some extra veggies.

-Don't be afraid to ask for what you want at a restaurant. Ordering a salad? Choose the healthiest dressing (avoid anything creamy) and get it on the side. Dip your food into it rather than pouring the whole thing over your meal.

-Going on a cruise? As a former "Sports Afloat Coordinator" for Norwegian Cruise Lines I can tell you that these ships come equipped with phenomenal fitness facilities. Check out the gym and get involved in some of the onboard activities, try out a new class. Yoga is a great one to try out on vacation, you get to stretch relax and get a workout in! There are usually always games going on too, basketball, water volleyball, table tennis and even rock climbing depending on your ship! When booking an excursion choose the most active ones. A lot of times the ships will have incentive programs for exercisers, usually you can get a prize at the end of the week if you complete a certain number of classes, so get involved!

-Another note about cruises, it is not uncommon for the average cruiser to gain up to 7 pounds in one week at sea! I'm not kidding! There is food available around every corner and at any time of day. Keep that in mind on your next cruise to keep you in check when you've feel the need to hit up the chocoholic midnight buffet!

-Do something out of the ordinary, how about horseback riding, snorkeling, renting a jet ski, get crazy have fun and stay fit!

-Do something active everyday. Yes you're on vacation, but getting out and moving is going to help you maintain your fit lifestyle! Use your fitness plan as a way to enhance your enjoyment of your vacation spot and come home feeling refreshed and vitalized!
